How do I get there?:

To experience the lives of many local Hong Kongers, we were set a challenge. The challenge was to try living with the minimum wage in Hong Kong- $30 per hour. To do this, we set out on a hike that lasted two hours, it was tiring but the view was breathtaking.

Recount

Once we arrived in Aberdeen, we were given imaginary money to see what we could buy with it, we looked around the local stores to see whether or not $60 was enough for a full and nutritional meal.

Luckily enough, we were all able to find just that. But think about what people have to pay for things OTHER than food in real life: rent, bills, transport, etc. This wouldn't be nearly enough, and we think the minimum wage in Hong Kong is too little.

Dangers/ Safety Hazards:

As beautiful as the hike was, there were quite a few safety hazards that weren't properly addressed. The hike had many warning signs for things such as dog poisoning, erosion, landslides, etc, but we noticed there wasn't much that the government had done to prevent these things from happening. As well as that, the hiking trail was narrow, it had no rails and there were any loose rocks and dried leaves on the path.

Review

We rate this hike 4/6 because although the road is quite dangerous, it is very exciting to hike and has many health equipment throughout the path. If you are looking for a healthy workout, we recommend the hike because not only does the hike accomodate everything a gym has, it also provides beautiful scenery and fresh air.
