This park offers a wide range of leisure facilities including an artificial turf pitch for football, cricket, and many more. There is an elevated cycling track of about 1 kilometre in length, a Skatepark, a cycling area for beginners, a 650-metre jogging trail and fitness corners for all ages.

Recount:

We took a bus to San Po Kong and spent our first few hours experiencing the many facilities it offered. Such as, Biking and fitness corners. We took a walk around the whole park and saw many people doing tai chi, jogging on the tracks or simply chatting on the benches. There were many colourful plants and trees lining the sides of the paths, making San Po Kong refreshing and energetic. Furthermore, The park offers many wide spaces and fields that you will rarely find in a cramped and busy place like Hong Kong.

Review:

1. Children's play area 3/4

The children's play area was separated into three different areas for three different age categories. For this we rate the play area a three out of four because even though though the age categories helped keep everyone safe, we do not feel some of the equipments were suitable for the assigned age groups, such as the balancing beams for 12 year olds.

2. BMX area 3/4

The BMX area accommodated a large variety of different equipment such as half-pipes, banked ramps, full pipes, pools, bowls, etc. Unfortunately, points were deducted for safety hazards. We noticed that there was only one person on duty and that there was only one safety camera in the whole park, increasing the possibilities of an accident.

3. Cycling area/ Elevated cycling track 3/4

This was given yet another three out of four because even though we had a lot of fun going around the course and the park had addressed some of the safety hazards by adding padding on the sides of some of the biking areas, there were no people or cameras around to watch out for accidents.

4. Jogging trail 4/4

The jogging trail was given a rating four out of four because the trail was very safe and was a very effective form of exercise as we observed from the park, not only this, the track was located around the park with markings allowing joggers to see how far they have ran and enjoy the wonderful scenery too!

5.Elderly fitness corner 4/4

We rated the senior citizen fitness corner four out of four because we thought that the fitness corner was very adequate for the appointed age group. Not to mention, the corner accommodated a variety of fitness equipment of different difficulty level with clear instructions and warnings making it very safe.

6. Tai chi area/ Pebble walking trail 2/4

The tai chi area and pebble walking trail was given a rating two out of four because it didn’t particularly help your health but help you relax and loosen up.

7. Pitches 4/4

Even though the pitches had artificial grass, it was very well kept, and the environment was very good. The pitches were rented out and was very convenient and even included things such as scoreboards, bleachers, sports equipment, etc.

Review:

Overall, we give this park a 5/6.

We think that the HK government promotes good health well by sending out adverts, and having good provisions such as having community events and parks to help raise awareness and get everyone involved.

Our group truly enjoyed our time at San Po Kong and we hope to revisit soon!
